Steak for Dinner?

We love a good steak, while you can cook a reasonable steak at home, nothing quite tops getting it cooked on a proper grill. We've listed our favourte steak restaurants below, it's worth noting these places aren't the cheapest, but we feel are worth the money.

1. Pasture

Location: 2 Portwall Ln, Redcliffe, Bristol BS1 6NB
Website: www.pasturerestaurant.com

If you like steak, then this is the place to go. We've been a couple of times and can not fault the food nor the service.

The starters are well considered and full of flavour, they are worth trying if you think you'll have room for them! But the star of the show has to be the steak, our favourite cut is the chateaubriand. Pasture marks up on a blackboard of all the different steak sizes they have on the day, as for the sharing steaks you pay per 100g.

If you get the sharing steaks they come with two sides (definitely get the truffle chips!!) and two sauces, this actually works out to be a reasonable cost considering the quality you get.

2. Mugshot

Mugshot Porterhouse Steak

Mugshot is equally as good as Pasture for steak quality, but they have provide a completely different experience. With Mugshot you have the option to cook your steak yourself on a cooking stone. The stone is sealed blue and then you can cook it off how you like (bear in mind these stones can reach over 300 degrees!).

This type of experience may not be for everyone as you have to cook as you go, but its definitely worth a try! We loved our time at Mugshot, and with the sharing steaks you get a choice of 4 different butters which you can cook with the steak and two sides.

3. Steak of the Art

Location: Unit 1, Balmoral House, Cathedral Walk, Canons Way, BS1 5LW
Website: steakoftheart.co.uk

At Steak Of The Art, we both got a Rib-eye got where the knife cut through the steak like butter. We tried the smoked garlic and truffle butter (both so good!) and had a side of chips.

One thing to note about Steak Of The Art is the interior design, if you can nab yourself a window table you'll find each one is a completely different theme. It makes it very interesting to look at and definitely forms a conversation starter!

4. Miller and Carter

Miller and Carter Steak

Can't talk about steak and not mention Miller and Carter. Of course Bristol has one bang in the centre of town, just off College Green next to Bristol Cathedral.

As with any Miller and Carter they provide all their steaks with a side of chips, onion hash, tomato and half an iceberg lettuce topped in a sauce of your choice. Seems odd, but it definitely works.
